GENERAL OUTLOOK FOR THE FORECAST PERIOD
• The Tropical Depression (TD) is forecast to move generally southward or southwestward in the next 24 hours under the influence of both the high pressure ridge to its northwest that is extending from mainland China and the binary interaction with the low pressure area to its east. On the track forecast, the TD may enter the PAR tonight or tomorrow morning. A more northwestward turn may begin by tomorrow. It must be noted that shifts in the track forecast of this TD are likely.
• The TD is forecast to reach Tropical Storm category within 36 hours. Afterwards, a steady period of intensification may occur as the tropical cyclone moves over the Philippine Sea.
• Based on the current forecast scenario, this tropical cyclone is unlikely to directly bring heavy rainfall and severe winds in the country. However, it may case moderate to rough seas over the seaboards of Extreme Northern Luzon during the weekend. Such condition may be risky for those using small seacrafts. Mariners are advised to continue monitoring for updates.
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to continue monitoring for updates related to this tropical cyclone.
Unless an intermediate advisory or initial tropical cyclone bulletin is released, the next tropical cyclone advisory will be issued at 11:00 AM today.
