DPWH-2 Opens Newly Completed Beach Boulevard In Cagayan
Road leading to Sentinela Boulevard in Barangay D. Leaño, Claveria, Cagayan is now open to motorists and tourists.
The road project will provide direct access to motorists and tourists coming from the Maharlika Highway to the Sentinela Boulevard, wherein the home of Apo Ubing-Ubing (a legendary rock formation) can be found. Sentinela also features its rocky trails, the crushed coral shores of the beach, a river connecting to the sea and Bantay Kalbo (a 100-meter hill that overlooks the whole cove of the beach).
DPWH – Cagayan Second District Engineering Office District Engineer Gumiran noted that with the direct access to the area, it will specially impact the lives of fisher-folks, farmers, and local business owners. This project will also aid in the economic recovery of the town, through strengthened tourism and social mobility.
The P30-million project was implemented through the Convergence and Special Support Program between the DPWH-Department of Tourism (DOT) or more known as the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP) and was funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2021 (GAA 2021).
The access road spans a total length of 560-meter (512.2-ln. meter road and 44.80-ln. meter bridge) which includes the construction of sidewalks, retaining wall, concrete curb and gutter and provision of solar powered street lights. ###EBaral/Edmarlyn Leigh A. Ricafrente (DPWH-CSDEO)
