Bamboo Planting Activity of the Local Government Unit of Claveria
As part of the various activities lined-up for Tourism Month and in observance of World Bamboo Day Celebration, Mayor Lucille Angelus Guillen-Yapo spearheads the Bamboo Planting Activity of the Local Government Unit of Claveria organized by the Municipal Tourism Office in partnership with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office at Barangay Centro 8 and Barangay Santiago respectively.
Officials and employees from the Executive and Legislative branch, Municipal Tourism Council, PNP and environment enthusiasts joined the activity.
Said undertaking aims to take measures not only to raise Bamboo awareness but also to save this natural resource and the environment and ensure its sustainable use.
During the activity, Mayor Yapo extended her thanks to the Department of Trade and Industry thru its Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo for the grant of 800 bamboo propagules in which some was utilized in the above-mentioned activity while others will be intended for distribution to advocates/interested constituents of all 41 barangays.
She also emphasized the importance of every Claveriano’s active participation in the promotion and conservation not only of the bamboo industry but of the environment and its natural resources in general.
The Local Government Unit joins the nation in its advocacy to promote and preserve the bamboo industry and to attain sustainable tourism development.
